HOTEL THE EXCHANGE GEOPEND OP HET DAMRAKMar 02, 2012 HET PAROOL 22-04-2009 : De gemeente Amsterdam heeft al geruime tijd grootse plannen met vooral het Damrak. Deze week werd een zoveelste nota gepresenteerd: het traject Centraal Station-Weteringcircuit moet de entree van de stad worden, het visitekaartje, de Rode Loper. Die plannen staan of vallen echter met de bereidheid van de Israëlische zakenman Asaf Barazani om zijn circa vijftien panden op het sterk verloederde Damrak te verkopen aan de gemeente dan wel de nv Stadsgoed van woningbouwvereniging Stadgenoot. Lukt het niet Barazani daar weg te krijgen, vreest de gemeente, dan zal het Damrak blijven wat het al jaren is: een kermis van neon, patatzaken, gokhallen, en hotelletjes en restaurants voor toeristen. Het zag er aanvankelijk naar uit dat justitie het Damrak wel schoon zou vegen. Asaf Barazani en zijn broer Admon Barzilai bestierden rond de eeuwwisseling een omvangrijke familieclan. Asaf beheerde het vastgoed, Admon de hotels en restaurants die erin gevestigd waren; het personeel was allemaal familie. In 2004 viel een leger van circa 25 rechercheurs van de Nationale Recherche en de Fiscale Inlichtingen- en Opsporingsdienst (Fiod) de panden en zaken van de Barazani's en Barzilais op het Damrak binnen. De verdenking: witwasserij. De strafzaak loopt ten dele nog steeds. Asaf Barazani bleef in die zaak strafrechtelijk buiten schot, maar sindsdien woedt wel een psychologische oorlog tussen Barazani enerzijds, en justitie en de gemeente Amsterdam anderzijds, waarbij ...

Ambulance Amsterdam 13-106 A1 Victoria Hotel Damrak 1 AmsterdamMay 09, 2012 Toen ik bij een brand stond (zie andere video) kreeg de 13-106 een spoedmelding bij het Victoria Hotel. Aard van melding onbekend. Het tramverkeer heeft enkele minuten vertraging opgelopen.
